Sre they really wallagos? I saw some of those at an LFS (in aus mind you) for an awesome price. Wink Wink. :D

I am fairly sure it is a wallgo ... not sure what kind though

Is it legal down under?

I still say it is an ARTC , because at that size the reds in the tail don't show up, yet...

but it could be one of its Hemibagrus cousins, of course.....

Congrats, you gave those fish a future. :D :)

No, i did not ^^ These are just photos of the fish that i COULD have gotten. As i said, they were in the restraurant, i was in the restaurant AND i did not have proper equipment to get them nor aquarium ready back home to receive that kind of fish

But i will be going back to try to get these ^^

I wonder if the DAT was USD 7 like the bagarius (see pix 1) ... if it is then i am heading back to get him :naughty: i can't believe i did not notice him besides the knife. ... it willbe worth it even with petrol and all that

I just hope no one orders a sour (tom yum) DAT soup ^^

PS: i also have to 'persuade' my friend to give me his siamese dat for new year (he gave me his aligator gar for free) ... just gotta find a suitable gift for him too ... may be my juvi green aro that HBRTG has beaten up

That's Belodontichthys dinema, not Wallago sp..

I googled belodontichthys dinema and it looks fairly similar (at least to my untrained eye), except that according to planetcatfish this particular species is located in Indonesia and Malaysia. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=760

In any case, according to planetcatfish belodontichthys dinema is wallago dinema (synomym).

Check http://www.mrcmekong.org/programmes/fisheries/fish_desc.htm wallago attu and leerii are definite Mekong's residents ... regardless of what it is, i am getting one soon ^^

PS: oh, while looking around it appears that according to this link, wallagos and bagarius as well as pangasius gigas are successfully captive bred http://www.mrcmekong.org/download/free_download/Mekong-Fisheries-of-Thailand-Eng.pdf

Ohh thats interesting. The fish I saw in the LFS are similar to that but they are very broad across the head and mouth and very skinny elsewhere, and have an almost transparent body. Is that like the fish you see?
