Ebos are good. I also like Tronics because you can easily buy heater guards for them.

It wont shock you:) you might get a tickle, but the water is a lot more conductive than you or your fishies:D

I dont know what you are talking about. Current takes the path of least resistance, and that is not through your body. Even if you are tied directly to ground it would trip the breaker (or blow the fuse) before it would KILL someone.

Human, body is a better conductor than fresh water. It is your skin that usually offers a lot of resistance to electric current. But, if submerged in water this resistance is pretty much completely removed and the current chooses to run through the body. Many people have sustained injuries or died in accidents like that.

Breaker/fuses don't trip/blow fast enough. They are not designed to protect human live.
Special equipment exists for this purpose. A person can have a severe cramp, heart or respiratory problem or die before the circuit is broken.

Be sure before you post stuff like that!

Maybe because i work with electricity every day I failed to mention a few things (because i assume people know about grounding ect.) .....Shekes is failing to mention a few things too. There is more to it than shoving your hand in a tank that somehow can have current running through it. I'll stop now so i dont derail this thread any more. Sorry everone!

The titanium heaters have come down in price to the point where there about the same as a good glass one,My next heaters going to be metal

Ive been zapped from a broken heater before. its harmless unless you have a path for the juice to flow to(ie hand in tank other hand or foot grounded or touching metal or water.

I finally gave up on glass heaters after I shattered 2 in a row.

I was using them to heat the water in my water change buckets.
One time I put it back in the refilled bucket when it was hot and the
glass shattered, another time I left it in a half empty bucket and
enough water evaporated to leave it dry and it eventually shattered.

I think the titanium heaters are better for a number of reasons.

)- Either no relays, or relays that pass less current thus will last longer.
)- No glass to break and cut you.
)- External temperature adjustments and indicators
)- Automatically turn off if they get too hot ( left out of water ).

I'm convinced!
