What is the difference between the stealth and deluxe? just the looks?

and how many temperature adjustments can I do?

I have a 40gallon breeder tank that is filled to 10-1/2" (out of 16") but which heater watt should I get?

the 10watt for 30gallons, or the 150watt for 45gallons?
I want the temperature to be atleast 78F

stealths are made of a hard plastic and are unbreakable unlike the galss deluxe so there a must need for monsters, i love mine. i've used both.

Does it burn fish?

You're right, I'm thinking of the rena heaters that light up. You want the stealth. It's not made of glass, it has like a rubberized coating. I can't guarantee that it can't burn fish, but I'm pretty sure it cant. My jack dempseys beat it around, it stays put, and they never get burned. In another tank, I have one set up horizontally with a powerhead blasting current across it (to distribute the heat, probably unnecessary) and my rubber lip pleco loves hanging on to it and feeling the current, but he doesn't stay long enough to get burned. The lady at the lfs I bought mine at noted she never dealt with any returns on those. I love mine.

PacKRaT; why is it unnecessary to use a powerhead for the heater?

They have never burned my fish and I found out it went out because I noticed my temps dropping over the course of a few days...Hard to tell here in hot Louisiana....the cord is six feet

Dooes the temperature of the outside of the tank(room temp.) affect the tank temperature?

The heater will keep the whole tank up to a certain temperature, but I noticed in the directions for the stealth that it recommends putting the heater in a part of the tank that gets good water circulation, and I wanted to use a power head for under water current, so I mounted them like this:
The heater will work anyway.
