Sweet looking tank. can't wait to see it up and running. if going to put cichlids and loaches in there then go with sand.
can you post pic of the sump after its done would like to see it.

So far the part I like about the sump is the fact that I can put the heaters in there.

sand and gravel will not work, sand will sink through the gravel in my experience

That's why you put them in different areas of the tank.

Hook up some durso's to quiet down your overflow.

My brother did a mix of both actually,where it came out really nice with the sand and gravel.

Looks good. As a vet of sand and gravel I vote for sand. A mix ends up being all the gravel on top eventually.

Those are some big ass holes on the back. Did you plug them or make some giant tubed close loop setups?
