awesome setup, can you describe more of your filteration? why did you go with filter socks? what is the fx5 for, chemical filteration or additional mechanical? what are you using for biologicial filteration? i also have a midwest custom aquarium which i purchased or so years ago, i'm glad he's still doing great work.

I like the water clarity and the easy maintenance that filter sock provides. The FX5 (full of ceramic rings) was running on my previous 125, so cycling the 315 was a breeze. I kept it on for the additional water movement and the fact that traps waste from mid level unlike the overflows.
Without a doubt Chris does outstanding work.

Yes very much ...the fact that I got a great deal on them on dr.smith & foster (40 % off) didn't hurt either.

with the leds, does it fully cover the 3 foot back and front of the tank? im running power compacts right now that use to be on my 210. 2x3 feet but its not very very bright. not like how i want it lol. i was planning to replace my lighting but need something that will cover the depth of the tank.

not quite, but I really like the way it looks and the tig enjoys the dim light in the back of the tank

i was planning to replace my lighting but need something that will cover the depth of the tank.

What I also like about these lights is the shimmering effect. The "night mode" is very cool too, but unfortunately the kelberi goes crazy when it's on.
