the QM2 is a cruise ship, ugly in design with painted plastic inside and a dull exterior. its simply not the same anymore. i love the normandie as well, but she is a complely different design. unfortunatelly i got no model of the Bremen yet.
 
The QM2 is an ocean liner not a cruise ship. If as you say the "ugly in design with painted plastic inside and a dull exterior" how then did it win all these awards?

The Queen Mary 2 is pathetic. She takes up to 7 days to cross the atlantic. She is dead slow. The Bremen took the same distance in just a litle more than 4 days. You feel no power or strength on the QM2...just dullness and boredom. Her interior is pathetic. Plastic covered in fake gold and fake wood. But it fits her passengers, mostly very very old and even demented people. She is too big to be luxurious and loses her glamoure evry year more. Just recently she failed hygienic standards in the USA.. Her bad design and service is the main reason why she makes no profit while the entire industry is booming. I´m aware that the QM2 can´t reach the luxus standard of a MS Europa, which is voted the best ship worldwide in almost 8 years in a row...but QM2 is going down rapidly. I travelled her and i was super disappointed. I got more luxus in any 3rd class egyptian hotel in Hurghada. My personal favorite is the Costa neoRomantica and also AIDA. QM2 is floating dirt and a shame for an old name. The old QE2 was much better. Most funny thing about QM2 is how unprofessional her staff is. And i didn´t even talk about the technical failures that vessel has. Power black outs almost on evry tour. At last QM2 is cheap. Her most expensive cabin is as much as the cheapest on the Europa.
 
Aparantly most people enjoy Costa since their booking in 2012 are higher than 2011. Beside that the Concordia is an amazing ship.The damage done from the rocks was enormous. Its a miracle she stayed afloat for that long. Beside that Costa is a much better line than Cunard. Accidents do happen. Only 30 people died from more than 4.000.

They found masses of cockroaches on the QM2...so far the QM2 is the only big player that failed at hygienic standards. I were on a lot of cruises and QM2 was the worst. It was also the only one where i hoped for an iceberg.
 
Why waste 4-7 days of your life crossing the Atlantic when a jet can do it in a few hours? I understand cruises that island hop or follow scenic coastlines but to use boats to travel a great distance is dated and tedious. Do you get picked up at the docks by a stagecoach?

Why book first class train tickets, when you can also take the cattle train...Its not about time, its about style. I can afford it and i enjoy it. I don´t like to cramp myself in a tube get pathetic food served as 1st class stuff and fly like the average joe. Time is luxury. You can afford it and take a liner or you can´t and take a plane. I also have my mobile phone only for business. I never use it at home and put it into the storage.
 
wow, the internet impresses me from time to time.. I just logged in on my fish forum, the one for monster fish.. I'm caught by the title "the 50 000 ton torpedo".. what do I find? I find a description of a world war era cruise ship.. and what more, there is not just one guy with a passionate enough to get emotional about ships, his nemesis, the QM2-guy is here to just to argue.. life is fantastic..

That here for example is my all time favorite. The RMS QE2. I sailed 3 times on her. She has class, history, size, luxus and power

There is nothing better, than to be on that Leviathan in rough seas. She is bigger than Titanic as well.
