The acclamation process

You can get a Hanna electronic TDS meter for pretty cheap. I highly recommend it.

If you do choose drip acclimation, please put a little Amquel or Prime in the bag as soon as you open it. I know that at such a low pH ammonia shouldn't be a problem, but just in case...
 
Well the Altums arrived safe and sound. Now it's on me. Pete from City of Angels sent me seven of them. Very nice of him to throw in an extra. They are tiny little guys. I dumped the water into a net and put the fish into the tank. After reading the posts and check my water I went for it. So far they look ok. I guess I'll have to start a thread for them in the Angelfish & Discus forum. Seems like a shame nobody goes in there.
 
maybe late to add this but...you could have a good LFS check you TDS,this way you have an idea of what your running at...hopefully you won't need to be concerned with the number,good luck!
