This large male is really friendly and really likes the idea of being fed twice a day.He has already figured out when it is feeding time he splashes water out of the tank to let us know.

The female seems to be suffering from Lymphocystis. You probably should quarantine her if you haven't already.
Congrats on your pick up and hopefully it will eat and come around for you. But i must say that this looks like a male.....At 8" females should be showing plenty of orange, yellows, and reds. And if this is a male then your in luck and will get a chance a trying to pair him out with one of your femalesGood luck and cant wait to see them once they fully recover.
If your sick Festae is suffering from Lymphocystis, which I think it is, you shouldn't keep it with any other fish. There's no cure for it. It's a viral disease that can be spread to other fish. It would be better off in its own tank. Being kept alone will also be less stressful on the Festae and its symptoms could go into remission. I'd just hate for you to have multiple fish suffering with this disease. BTW good luck with your incoming batch of Festae.Ok so the small female is doing good and flashing color. The large one is a male for sure and has finally started showing color. He is still a little on the thin side but doing much better. The other small one is better but seems to have permanent damage around it's eyes and still has problems with telling how far away food actually is so it will go into a tank with some non aggressive Africans and a very non aggressive Green Terror in about a week also it has decided that it is also a boy. Now that it is better it is more obvious. We have decided that these three will just be display fish and that we are going to get 12 Red Festae fry to try and get a pair.
And before anyone says anything about the SA's mixing with the Africans I already know and we keep the tanks parameters in between where they each prefer it and have never had an issue other than the Africans will not stop breeding.
