but feels really sad that my biggest cat, the TSN which was 4 years old and 3'+ died just a few days ago, especially when his new pond was just about to complete, he died by choking on a large toad that got into the current pond

yeah it would have been great, but my budget wouldn't allow for a window paned pond, so i thought go for a below the ground one, which is much more cheaper

I am SO sorry. What a sad, frustrating loss! Sounds like covering your pond with a koi net might be in order to protect your fish from themselves.
