The best day ever!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We picked him on Fri and he got fed yesterday...so, a slight fast and lots of pooping, I'm sure, helped out with the little weight loss. His stool has been nothing but diarrhea and I'm sure it's because of the horrible diet he was on.

Don't mind the "thirsty" bowl, in the background. lol He's in the room, in our basement, that the dog used to stay in. We were gonna remove it, but after we caught him dunking his head in it and blowing bubbles, we left it. He also has a 25gal Rubbermaid water bowl.

This is the room that's gonna be remodeled into his enclosure. We have aprox. 400lb of boulders, nine 11' logs, that are aprox 3' round and I'm workin' on about 1500lb of soil/mulch mix. It's turning into quite the job.

You can't see the bank of 5 heat bulbs, over to his right...that's the light source, in the pics. That basking log stays at around 135 degrees F.

Calm down he still has to finnish it:D And yep diarrea is from the liver no question about that:( It maybe wont be bad that you not fed him for a copple of days but gave him lots of water to clean that out. But the mice is good, it will help;)

I would've really have liked to have his enclosure done, before we had to pick him up but the previous owner was so insistant, we had no choice.

I'll have the enclosure done just as soon as I can...

Those are some great pics. I cant wait to see pics of him once he is in his finished enclosure.

have you thought about feeding live? I know it sounds bad and I don't like feeding live (it's the noises that I can't stand) but I have heard of people feeding fat savs live so they have to run and catch their food

I honestly don't think he's at the point, right now, where he'd be able to chase down even a small rat...the prey, in the pics.

I didn't just let him have it. The pics didn't catch him having to move around, while I made him work for the rat. And, once he grabbed a hold of it, I tugged and wiggled and wrestled with him, till he ripped the rat away from the tongs.

hes such a vast lizard

and one of the most impressive ones ive seen
the contrast between the black and yellow is sooooo awesome.
