I lost a GT to bloat as well. I tried many things but bloat is a tough one. He lasted about month and a half after first signs, and at one point I really thought I had it beat, but he lost the battle in the end. I had a feeling it did some internal damage he couldn't recover from.
Epsom salt.-also shelled peas Get's the parasites and what ever else out -garlic will kill bacteria and whatever else gets flushed out. If you can catch it in time. Dillute with water from your tank catch your fish and take a turkey baster (for 7inchers and above) and force feed the solution. I noticed a difference the next day she was 100% in about a month I tried adding it to the water and it just didn't work as well. Adding garlic to my frozen food mix did make my tank smell bad just a heads up.
he came from a locale fish store. im not sure of his exact place of origin. they get 1in fry in all the time from small locale breeders as well as large scale breeders out of state.
ill keep this in mind. we went on vacation for a week, got home and he had bloat bad. i left a friend incharge of feeding the fish, im sure he over fed them.
