Bichirs aren't difficult to keep. They're very hardy fish. i'm not sure what his point is. One doesn't need a doctorate degree to keep bichirs.

wrong answer buddy. You want tell me they are hardy enough to survive all that **** they must go through and you think thats positive?

How do you explain the large amount of "my bichir just died!!!" topics in that community here? Collective suicide?

My tank has 66 gallons. I change evry week 30% of the water and i use rain water. I feed him insects (crickets), worms, pellets and he also like snails. His only tankmate is an ancistrus and two large faunus snails.

Thank you, I had a few more questions before we got off track:

What size enclosures does Monsanto use in the lab for the bichirs, and approximately how many animals have been taken into captivity for this R&D program?

What is the relevance of genes from early cladista to Monsanto's work in bioengineered crops?

what happens to the baby polypterides that Monsanto produces?

You said you have one, so I assume other employees have access to them too?

Thank you. It's really too bad you're unwilling to share pictures of your workplace, I'm sure most of us would love to have a job that pays us to work with bichirs.

Did you do a psychological evaluation on you Bichir? Or did it tell you it would be happier in your tank with some plants than in my tank without?

weird i come on everday and click 'new post' least 50 times a day lol and i havent seen one dead bichir thread..

I will not talk about my workplace and i will not show any pictures from my workplace. It is irrelevant for the topic.

A fish jumping out of a tank doesn't mean that person is a bad fish keeper. Its one of those things that just happens, like a dog or cat sneaking under a fence or slipping out the front door and getting hit by a car. Does that mean that person isn't capable of being a dog or car owner, or what about the person who hit the dog or cat with the car does that disqualify them from owning and animal or keep driving a car? You are just as likely to have your Ornate jump out in the middle of the night or during work as the next person. I've had a 9" sen jump out of a 110 gallon tank that he had all to himself with huge amazon swords, limestone rocks, hollow logs and good clean water. Tank lids were sealed up and still can't figure out how he did it, I spent alot of money and time making sure he had a good tank.

Strange that you can't figure out why your workplace is relevant to the conversation. You came on here telling everyone how bad of fish keepers they are and that they are killing animals for their enjoyment ect... But yet your workplace that you receive a check from is one of the worst companies in the world that destroys the environment, animals and causes severe health problems with humans. And taking health animals out of the wild. I guess the question "What is the relevance of genes from early cladista to Monsanto's work in bioengineered crops?" They must want as much gene information they can get so when Monsanto destroys all of central Africa they can repopulate the bichir species.
