The best thing you can do for your fish

If you want to treat as a precaution why not just feed epsom soaked pellets a few times a year ?

if you feed live foods from time to time, running a dewormer/parasite course once or twice a year is not a bad ideal, plenty of folks do it including me, a little course of metroplex not going to hurt your fish or filters.

OP...how did you deduce that your FH had internal parasites?

Prior to shipping, most sellers won't feed the fish and they will sometimes poop white on an empty stomach.

Just saying...
I knew they pooped white for a while. Weeks. After the treatment they both faded and colored up tremendously. Ate more and were overall healthier

Fish from Thailand typically land with WORMS, and sometimes other forms of internal pathogens such as Spironucleus aka Hexamita. Worms do not just manifest from stress, so once a fish (and system) is properly treated, there is never any reason to retreat unless one introduces more worms, or worm eggs via infected water/fish/plants etc. Fish from Thailand such as flowerhorn often have worms due to the fact most of those fish are raised on live food, dirty live food, such as blood worms. So ya, best to always treat flowerhorn imported from SE Asia as a precautionary method, then again a few weeks later to finish off any worm eggs that survived the initial treatment.

Spiro/Hex outbreaks can be triggered from stress, and is a common parasite in ornamental species such as flowerhorn, but IMO there are ways to treat that particular parasite that is far easier on the fish, such as epsom soaked pellets. (see sticky) IMO always best to start small, and work your way up the medication ladder, and not nuking them with some Thai based medication that as Aquanero stated gives the consumer zero info as to what's in the container. If I have a cold, I don't want to be taking cancer meds. The fact that a medication works, doesn't mean that it doesn't also have long term repercussions for the host.

Good luck with your new flowerhorn.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting. Why do I worm my horses once a month, they show no symptoms but it's like ... A thing you do, as well as the cats. I'm sure if I had other species they would have routine workings whether they "showed" symptoms or not. That's what workers are for... To be done routinely. Are you suggesting you should always wait until you have a problem and then find the solution? I'd much rather be on top of things.

The difference between horses and fish worming is, you are creating a controlled environment in a fish tank. Once wormed, we can assume that tank is worm free. You only risk infestations by adding fish/plants into system or I suppose contaminated hands or nets. Horses on the other hand pick up parasites from free range feeding and/or flying insects. The changes of reinfection are much higher.

Is to regularly deworm (I know correct terminology is to say worm them but that sounds dumb) them with CZ Aqua Clear. Fish can get internal parasites from stress alone and this stuff WORKS. Get it online from all4fish. Com free shipping or wherever. Your fish will thank you! Just sharing from experience I ordered flowerhorn from Thailand came with white poop and this stuff did the trick. The metro and prazi and api cure was such a waste...
This stuff also made my fader fh go from 75% black to fully faded within a matter of a week and a half. The colors and overall well being of the fish just blossomed after the treatment :) I am so happy

The fader gene and/or the fading process has zero to do with the medication. It is not triggered by how happy you, or your fish are. The best thing that you can do for your fish - pay attention when you are given some good advice. :)
