lol. i tell everyone about that place and noone ever believes me. there loss i guess. you can build some crazy enclosures and tanks with the stuff they have there.
i like the black sand too. it is kinda sharp the. i think its crushed obsidian.
i was wondering.... have you thought about fake plants?
i like them better bc they dont need anythin special and if you scape right you wont even notice they are fake. just a hint of green

Added the pebble I wanted, although I found this color instead of black and I really like it.... The three large rocks along with 38lbs of the 'Florida Mix' beach pebbles I paid a grand total of $9.35 I was floored and ask the cashier if he was charging me for only tax... !!!

i think its just easier and cleaner also. what i would do is get egg crate for the areas you want plants and zip tie them to the crate where you want them and burry it in the sand. that way your fish cant even pull them up if they tried.
oh and do pothos just for fun

pothos, its a plant some call it ivy. but its great for controling nitrates in tanks and adds a little green to the top of your tank if you want it.
there is a thread about it
