The 'Blue' Gene in Jack Dempseys

I have raised a fair number of EBJD and have quite a few crosses, but I cant tell which ones are blue until about 2 weeks old. they will start looking gold color by that age. Never heard of anyone that could tell on first day of free swimming.

If you are not getting any blues from different spawns of "BGs" then IMHO you dont have BGs.
 
Perhaps I should give them more time to develop before I jump to conclusions. I had always been under the impression that the fry were white and that they were easy to tell apart in the first few days. Oh well.

Ed - you might want to get somebody else to take a look. The EBJDs grow slower than regulars and BGJDs. If you wait for too long you may lose a lot of EBJDs.
