Thanks Balton. The biggest problem we face here IMO is hybrids. Don't get me wrong, I personally have nothing against hybrids as a fish or even being in the hobby as such. That is if we had access to more pure wild stock like other countries. As we can't import most of these fish any more, the eventual introduction of hybrid blood into many of our pure blood stocks is very real and a far greater threat than inbreeding. Especially with our CA cichlids. It is easy to cull out deformities due to a limited gene pool, line breed etc but one can't reverse the effects of tainted blood lines.
