What is your exact salt to gallon mix and exact temp ?

I need to kill these little buggers.

I will say my Broko is acting great. Always waiting to eat and eats very good. It loves to mess with my other farm raised mystery peacock bass.
He is ascerting himself among my comunity.


BTW- If the bass was not yours then it does not count as a casulty , officially : )

^^^^^^ But you gotta understand me and this guy have put and giving a lot of different Cichlids in the hands of one another. So under my watch and I also got him into P bass during this time so my blame.

Ok so I use a handful of salt on a regular basis. With yours being that small and current out break most on here will tell you measure it out by the 1 tsp/10g rule or is it 1 tblsp>?<. I also use Epsiom salt as stated. I would do a fistfull for a 75g. But with out heat your not going to get very good result's.

Oh yea and CREAM stands for Cichla Rules Everything Around Me! Basicly took over my life so I Creamed out and have never looked back. So that being said. Of course cream means a lot of things but to me it's Cichla.

Now bOOstern audi does not believe in high dosage of salt with Cichla. But I have always trusted his advice and he has never steered me in the wrong direction. I trust his advice as well as my own. This is why he was one of the first C.R.E.A.M OG's. but really he was a die hard like me so it's a no brainer. Throw him a Pm or maybe he will post the correct dosage here?

Here I am going to say it now out loud. Now CREAM is a dream for all CICHLA keepers. I can't control who put's Cream in there signature or what Cream they put in there tank. I just want to promote good Cichla keeping like I always entended and remain close to those with like minded love for Cichla as me. (Not everybody likes Peacock Bass believe or not they tell me this from time to time) but when they walk into my house I make there jaws drop and the must respect the Lighting and Thunder in the tank!

Almost forgot temp. I keep all my Cichla tanks 88+ I have a 40g sitting at 93, and the main tank 240g is at 89. 88 and above you should not have anymore issues with ich. I have read that 80-85 is acceptable but I was advised 88 and up.

I have a 75 gallon tank. Been running approx. 4 weeks.

Temp is 85...Thats all I can get it to.

1 tablespoon aquarium salt to 5 gallons of water.

25% w/c every other day.

Have ich for 8 days now. Been treating it for 7 days with aquarisol and began doing the salt thing 4 days ago with aquarisol.

My Broko is showing more new spots all the sudden after the others just cleared up.

Only my broko has the ich. None of my other fish have the ich.

I asked about how well aquarisol worked in a different thread because I was not too happy with it. Quite frankly I think its junk.

I always used AP Pro quick cure with sucess in the past. I only avoided it this time because of my peacock bass sensitivity.

I did not add it yet because I wanted to see if anyone here ever used it for cichla.

2cents....Patience, I panicked too when I dealt with this and it takes a little time because the ick is cyclical. So spores are "born" and that is the only time they are responsive to treatment so you kill one cycle and another is behind it, listen to the Creamers and you bass will pull through.

^^^ Right after I left sharkaquarium , I bought a new marineland 400 watt heater rated for 125 gallon tanks. $60 for it so its a good one.

Its max temp is 89 so I jacked it to the max. That should get me to 90 or 91 since this heater may be a little overpowering. I will keep a close eye on the temp to make sure it is no higher than 90 if it gets there.

I also did a 40 gallon (over 50%) water change from my 75 to dilute the salt level and aquarisol level. Trying to eliminate chemicals.

I am following your advice.

I forgot the name of what you said to use to lower the PH naturally. Not the peat the other leaves thing you mentioned.

Just fed my bass about 10 min ago and Broko downed 4 pellets. Still doing great with being active and eating.
