The Calm Before the Storm...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just came back from taiwan today. Stupid of me not having camera ready.
Took some pictures, but all from camera phone. :irked:

By looking at this head shot, what kind of cichla do you think it is??
Fish length head to tail = 21"

Welcome back =-)

That trip was so fast.

yeah... I know. I am glad to see my grandparents are well. 92 and 95 years old... nothing really special to bring back. :(

Guess what that cichla is, there's a reward waiting for you... :naughty:

Good to hear your grandparents are well.

I see a bit of gold so I'll say Kelberi... But the head seems elongated.

Like the double mint twins...

Thanks for posting..
I was actually trying to pull out some of your kelberi pictures to compare.
Just look at the head shape.
I am still mad at myself not having camera ready.
It cost me almost $40/US round trip to that store........, and miss the life time chance to capture 8 adult kelberi in one tank. >.<

:D
get to bring home some baby cichla. Collected from Bahia, Brazil.

Thanks.

Bahia, Brazil... :naughty::naughty: :nilly::nilly::nilly:
I don't see many rivers there. :naughty:

I was told non of those adult kelberi shown in picture showed anal fin spangling until AT LEAST 20 CM = about 8" ( head to tail caudal peduncle measurement ) :WHOA:
A late bloomer seems like not an big issue, and does not predict future gold appearance.
There is a consensus cichla from that region will show most "gold" in adult.

Note: interestingly at least from our conversation, they are not aware of rio Sao Francisco variant, but only knowing cichla caught from Bahia, Brazil has most gold appearance.

Which's my favorite?
A puzzle is not complete until the last missing piece. :nilly:
