C. orinocensis will never show black splotches behind the eye, and in this way they can be distinguished from the undescribed relatives of C. temensis, such as the Tapajó:s species, that shows a similar color pattern. Immature C. orinocensis do not show the ocellated spots of adults; instead, these spots are less defined and more like vertically-elongate diamonds.
