The Camera Thread

I use a Canon 30D with the 17-40 f/4L, 50mm f/1.8, 100mm f/2.8 macro and 70-200 f/2.8L IS for lenses. I have a Canon 580ex flash and the ST-E2 wireless transmitter. Along with a Manfrotto tripod & quick release head.

Davo, the 50mm 1.8 is a great little lens, but you can't really compare it to one of the L series for usability. It works ok in good light but the AF focus speed is nowhere near what my 70-200 is like :) I always find that the 50 hunts for AF too often for aquarium photo work, so it rarely gets used. I think I paid $55CAD for mine, so it's cheap enough that I don't mind it sitting unused in my camera bag!

I use a HPR707..i am happy with it since i bought it a few years ago and i have never had any trouble with it.. but it does not take pics fast enough.. the shutter will be on its way down and the fish is already out of sight.. so i will get one with faster shutter speed next time..:D
 
I feel kinda bad having started this thread that I havent really put any of my shots up... I got my camera after i brought my fish away for babysitting. my tanks are setup now and the fish will be back in 2 weeks... then ill have some shots.

Of course, the aquarium setting lets me take tank pictures without the glare of the flash reflecting in the pics. Been too busy playing at the lake to take pics of our boys. Have an underwater housing which I may take to Hawaii next month to use when snorkeling in the protected Hanauma Bay. But then again, those underwater disposable cameras are very handy and would be a lot less bother and hassle.:)

I got a Canon PowerShot A640 to replace my old sony CyberShot.
 
ive been messin with the settings alot on my cam... but im just having alot of trouble getting the colors of my fish to come out on the pictures the way i see them with my own eyes...

does a high ISO diminish color?

anybody got any good ideas for better pics?
