Cave works great for new borns. I don't think you need it any more. Your rays shouldn't be shy at this age. I'd take it out.

maybe you could make a cave that is up against the glass, that way you could still see them

I had never heard of using those slab caves like that until I saw yours.. obviously those pups love them and create a comfort zone for them. Maybe gives us an idea of how stressed out the pups are if they dont get hiding spots or substrate..

It seems like it would be best to use it for times of stress when it can be utilized most, but if kept in constantly it could create a skittish ray that relies on the relief of the cave always being available.

I think they'd be better off at my place. They'd have my pair of flowers to hang with and then bury themselves in the sand all day.

This is getting to be a bit annoying. My little leo pups since June have hung out under a cave I have in the tank. I am not at the point where I feel like pulling the cave out so they do not have the hiding spot as the tank may as well be empty!

What happens if you dim the lights? or shut it off completely?

My hystrix pups are showing the same behavior.. but only with the light on..

deff pull the cave.... they are gettin used to it. they will toughen up if u take it out....

They dont act like that just because there is sand in a tank.
