ah, surprising. then again it seems like alot of fish keepers around here have only been keeping a few years. though the oscar is a commonly kept fish, i suppose not many have become monsters yet.

i'm glad to see you didn't sell him and he'll get a larger tank good luck man

dude that's awesome. keep up with those pics man!

If the difference between my first Oscar and my new Oscar is directly related to my care, I can understand how Oscars end up at either the common 12" size or a nice monstrous 15" or more. I "powerfed" my first Oscar and changed his water like a maniac to control the nitrates. He was 13" after only 12 months of life, but got HITH and it wouldn't go away. I had yet to learn the importance of buffering my water. My second Oscar, I did not powerfeed. Instead I struck the balance between a rounded diet and light feeding with minimal water changes for better stability. He's about 12" now at a year and a half old, but honestly looks far healthier than my first Oscar did. There are so many factors involved with growing out an Oscar!

cool that oscar will be happy and that 20 gallon tank should have a electric blue lobster/crayfish so cool! or ghost shrimp..just some ideas

how do you guys like my wallpaper? ;)
i left enough room between the wall and the tank that i can add a black background to it eventually.

hes being a little camera shy. he was fine before i added the driftwood, but if you added a piece of wood that is 30 times my size to my house id be tripping out a little too :nilly:

he knocked a few scales of during transportation. ill keep an eye on them, but last time he knocked a couple off he healed up like a champ in a matter of a weekend :WHOA:

updates on shrimp tank coming eventually! im taking it back down to give it a good deep cleaning then starting it back up!

fish keeping sure is nice when you dont need 3-times a week water changes :D

Nice driftwood! Looking great for now. Enjoy the growing Oscar. Try to get a picture at least once a month so you can do a series for us when he hits 12". :) And try to get him in the same area near a size-defining object like a sump return or something. Just an idea.

Good idea! He seems to freeze up when I get the camera out, so I may just find a ruler and us that.
