Nice collection. It is cool to see some people into the less popular species like these guys.

Nice but why so many?

because he is obviously interested in them and can keep them properly, why not?

Thats fine, but how does putting 7 recently wild caught snakes in a bath tub make any sense? I'm sure it was a great stress reliever for them :screwy:. To each his own i guess.

1) watersnakes
2) a few of them had some stuck pieces of shed
3) the light amounts of chlorine in the water help to kill some parasites.

thanks. i laugh at the fact that i went from one snake to 10 in about 3 days.
and i'm still going out looking for more. there's a really large one with stunning colors that i always see but can never get closer than 10 feet.:irked: then (s)he dives in the water/ducks under the surface.:irked:

How is feeding for these guys? I here WC waternsnakes are not always the easiest snakes to acclimate.
the smallest is the only one who's eaten. (he had a feeder molly) but that was before i got the rest (the next day) and i haven't attempted feeding yet, except with the rat snake.

I love snakes, I'm really into corns.

Which brings me to ask, why the over light heating on the ratsnake.
I thought they were pretty close to the corn snake - thus only needing a UTH.

They're beautiful snakes by the way, and I have no idea of how you kept track of them all in the bath tub haha.

adjustable lights should be used in place of under tank heaters because that is how the snakes are designed to take in heat- from the sun. Both can provide the proper amount of heat but there are more blood vessels in the top portions of the snakes body that will absorb and distribute the heat more rapidly and efficiently when a heat lamp is used. Not only is it physically better for the snake but it also allows the snake to recognize its circadian cycle and the light can be manipulated to create a proper breeding season by shortening the light cycle during the winter months then making them longer during the summer.

Plus it allows you to see in the enclosure which is always nice.
