"THE CON PROJECT"

It all started when i was about to get rid of all my Convict cichlids at the LFS, then I noticed one of them had amazing color like no other con i had ever seen. I showed it on here earlier, in a post in this section, asking how to breed cons to acheive more color in the fish. Then a suggestion came up that someone should breed them selectively and show the results. So here we go. Im going to post the first 2 i started with and the next pair i intend to breed and so on for 5-6 generations as suggested. I know they are just cons, but why not? Im sure this will serve as some kind of contribution. If anyone wants to throw out suggestions or any more tips feel free.

Very good looking cons. excellent colours on the female. My female is like that yet my male is just black and white. Small Nuchal bump.

That's a great looking convict. I've had hundreds and have never seen the green/blue on the fins like that. You should try to get some wild convicts to breed back to and try to breed that true. It would be interesting to see if you could get the green/blue to extend on to the body.

very nice my lil girl looks like the second female except the gray areas are way more lighter almost white and she has a lil more red

and my male is just big and gray and black ahaa

I wish I would've. My male was just some sub-par male I found that I was certain was pure-bred Convict. My female was a wild caught female from a LFS. Jeff Rapps' put mine to shame, which isn't hard... but you get what I mean. Goodluck with everything, your cons certainly are amazing in their own right! Keep us posted.
