Pleco translates in English something like "poops more than they eat"

Ya it will die down once the tank is clean... i had a really dirty tank thought i toss in a plec before cleaning it.... his poo was like... 12inch long lol. Do i take home the gold? Once the tank was clean and he stopped eating non stop i hardly see those long poos anymore

i recently goot my first pleco and i was wondering what exactly does this infamous poop look like? is it like a string that hangs from the pleco for awhile then eventually falls off?

Well, here in my house it goes like this.

11.5 inch plec eats 5 algea wafers then poops out a 24 inch string-turd.

you do realise that poo is the result of it eating, and therefore if it stops, then you need to feed it. Algae makes up hardly anything of plecos diet anyway... a lot of time it is result of it having nothing else to eat, or not the correct foods, although in the long run, it will only shortly prolong their life before starving.
