mrrobxc mrrobxc nice! Inirida the blood tear saxatilis species??? They are very very very gorgeous pikes probably my favorite saxatilis EVER however Lugubris species grow much larger and therefore can hang better with my other oddball monsters... I gave mine to my buddy haha ran out of room when the other pikes starting punking him when he kept trying to start s***

Never mind. Saw the pics in the vendor forum. Hmmmm.....I'm tempted.

Good stuff! Be sure to snap pics. I'm going to order the inirida's instead.
I had to like both your posts. The first because I'm tempted as well. The second because there looks like there maybe a lot of competition for the Atabapo II I had to like you going for the Iniridas. lol
Seriously can't wait to see you scoop up the Iniridas and post up some pics.

mrrobxc mrrobxc atabapo I and atabapo II have both been captive Bred. However it doesn't affect the price because captive bred atabapo I have basically never been sold because it has only happened once or twice and no fry survived.

Atabapo I are more expensive 95% of the time but I'm still buying the IIs never had more than one in my tank I bet they'll coexist if I get a good sized group. I'm calling them tomorrow and placing my order
Do you have a pic of your Atabapo II? Or a pic of one showing adult coloration? The pics on google are so unreliable. The only one I see that gives some representation of their coloration is Jeff Rapps pics.

Here's a pic of the atabapo II I had. He didn't like my tank very much so he didn't show any super good color. however their iridescent blue often gets left out in a lot of the pictures i see online of adultsimage.jpeg image.jpeg

Thanks. So that's as dark as they get? I was hoping they had the same potential for darker red coloration as AI.

So then isde02's thread shows more or less AII's showing their best red coloration?

I had hoped they had similar potential to the Atabapo in this youtube vid.

Yep look at the very last page of jans atabapos. The all red makes for a nice display but these guys also sport red tear drops, orange glowing eyes and a lateral red dots half way down the bottom half of the body plus there's the ladder pattern and the other red... Coupled with their better track record in groups I'm definitely getting a group. I can already see them when they get bigger... Those eyes look evil in jans pics haha. Btws I plan on mixing some atabapo I and my tapajos in with them ultimately in the 300 and the vittata as well which have proven very peaceful for me so far...
Although not sure exactly what I want to do in the 300 but once they get some size it'll be easy to rehome them if I decide to change directions

Not to derail your thread but I know you like my T1 and it's been awhile so I figured I'd share a cell pic or two of her. Sorry for the quality.

Wow thanks for the pic kolt! Nothing is a detail as long as it's about pikes ;) she looks really good. The white on her dorsal and upper caudal is really really intense I don't think my 3 tapajos's had anywhere near that intense white. How big is she? What are u feeding her atm? If u aren't already I'd try and cut out hikari pellets and feed her NLS... I've noticed that hikari muddies up their color compared to NLS
