The Crenicichla Vittata "alligator pike" growout thread

4/16/15 lousy pics as usual but here they are, they haven't grown as much as I thought but water temp is under 72 so that's probably why. Eat like pigs still. hoping to bring temp up in a few months and breed them sometime by the end of this year

My LFS has some "Vittata" forsale but they aren't true like yours. What paperwork is required to get a fish shipment from Canada? I know if I order over the States to Canada, I have to get Fish and Wildlife involved....is their any special process that has to be followed?
True vittata? I'm not aware of any other fish that looks like vittata... Post some pics or send me some I can ID it for you. If they actually are vittata I recommend you grab up as many as you can get they're pretty rare I paid like $50 each at 1.5 inch fry.... Kens selling one 5-6 incher for $150. Awesome pike not aggressive at all for a pike. Ken is in the US so you'll be ok. I want fish from Ollie lucanus but I don't want to have to drive and hour up to Canada to pick up from a airport... Lol my parents won't drive me

I've done the border thing quite a few times...I live in Canada lol. They aren't true Vittata...they look more like a variety of Sax....definitely haven't seen the variety before but I could tell they weren't Vittata. I currently have a Lent and an Atapapo...but adding a Vittata would be a nice pickup. I'll see if I can take a few pics of the others and post them on this thread. Love the red eyes yours are getting

Thanks fam their eyes are a really nice touch I've really enjoyed them... I love their mouth shape recently acutirostris were available but k decided to save my money since I had these beauties. They're growing nice and steadily will take more pics of them soon.
Nice, lents and atabapo I are nice, currently I have rio tapajos marmoratas, vittatas, atabapo Is, tapajos I red, Cobras (tapajos II), and inirida I blood tear. Post up a pic of the saxatilis sp. I like all pikes big or small lol. Be aware that the lent can be aggressive... My marmoratas (similar to lenticulata) are very aggressive while vittata are milder
Since you're in Canada can I ask you why you haven't bought a few of Oliver's Jegui and cf. Jegui pikes??? Like fr those things are awesome asf I would like knife someone for a group of each... Seriously a fish id love to try man

My Atabapo and Lent. were impulse buys and messed up my tank arrangements lol. I've thought about the Jegui and was actually going to by the one Rapps had about a year ago or so. I just don't have the tank space at the moment. I thought about buying the Jegui if I was in Montreal...I'd rather hand pick from Oliver if I can.
