the day i feared, is finally over

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From now on, I suggest that you get large clear bags (one that are used to ship contain fish) for moving arowanas. I shuffle mine Jardini (16") and 20"+ Silver Aros frequently without injuiring them. Fish do not get as spooked by the sight of transparent bags. Float the bag until water fills in completely wit its mouth wide open. Then with your hand, gently hold the fish by its snout (it'll instinctively drive itself forward), and then guide it into the bag. You could also block its head with a net for the same effect but will be more difficult to maneuver the fish into bags.

Wow. what an adventure! Aren't you the one who told me to stop worrying my move-to-a-bigger-tank plan to death. So I stopped worrying. Oh Geez, now I'm worried. Hope your Aro's are all OK.

With all due respect, haven't you been trained by your fellow MFK'rs by now? Set up the camcorder right before the move........
What! No pics? If my Aro pulls a stunt like that and the camera is in the same room, hmmmmmm. I know, you don't have time to think until something like that is over. ;)

if i had an xtra person with me, i would have more then likely been recording. but if i had someone with me, im pretty sure it woulda been a boring video of the move cuz it would have went as planned lol. i doubt bags would have made a difference in this case. i used a pillow case, the tank is split so they can't even really see eachother, when i first was getting the jardini, the 2 silvers were on the other side of the divider. bam, they took a swan dive on the other side of the tank. i was 6feet away on the left side of the tank still tryin to get the jardini.

it was just a freak accident. the lid flew open like the gates to heaven or something with the 2 aros leaping right behind the opening lid.

other then some lost scales, ripped up fins only on the big guy. the move went ok. im gettin rid of the jardini now tho, exactly what i didnt want to happen with that fart, is happening... jardinis are not meant to be in community tanks regardless the size of the tank. i think he's being more mean now then he was in the 150.

i think every monster has been on the floor at one point or another. i hope yours are ok. id love too see them in that 400!

It's pretty amazing how hard they can pop the top when they want to. It was a freak accident in true Aro fashion. First one I ever saw my roomy brought home and poured it from the bucket into the tank. The Aro took one look at the tank and bailed right over the top and landed behind the tank behind the dresser. I was the only one that could fit back there, so I just grabbed him and he literally bounced out of my hands and into the tank. First time I had even heard of or seen an Arowhata? I should have learned then.........
I really hope your guys are OK so we can start laughing at you. Right now I'm still hoping to hear they are OK for a couple of days......

I'm going to setup a tripod with my camera focused on the top of the tank so I can film when I interact. Sooner or later I'll get another cool video like the one on my signature!
