ya i have seen that his anal fin does not reach all the way to his tail fin but he swims fine. my guess is he had it bit off as a new born or since his parents gave birth in a small show tank on accident he is just deformed. the guy at the fish store that i got him from said that the two dovii came in and spawned three times in under three months and were both around 6'' so young parents and they just kept moving them away from the offspring. but the offspring would kill each other in the smaller tanks. the male ended up killing the female during the third spawn so they sold him.

and will to much current stop jags from dropping eggs? i have 2 powerheads and the fx5 all pushing water in the same direction

Ive never had current stop any of my fish from breeding. I think you'll be fine.
