(another male of mine) They're very content to just chill when handled. ^_^

Yup, seems i spend a longer time trying to get my alleni's to let go of the net than actually holding them, then when i do hold them they try to kill me.

One had his claws in the water, and grabbed him a guppy. He got loose though.

I am proud to say after handling countless crays, i have yet to be pinched. (except for the handfuls of babies out of a bucket)

I thinking of letting my biggest pinch me just to get over the fear of being pinched. :nilly:

P. alleni's pinch really isn't all that bad. It gets your attention, though, that's for sure. But I find some of my smaller crays hurt more (like Cherax Zebra/Tiger or Cherax holthuisi).

You know what actually hurt more? I had a small P. alleni and he pinched me and wouldn't let go and then he bit me! Now that hurt! Those mouths are really powerful :WHOA: I so wasn't prepared for that (then again, I never imagined crays would bite either lol)

Crays can bite? :WHOA: what do they do... feel you up with those snake-like apendages on their face?

My biggest concern is that all mt adult ones have barbs on the tips. Big, sharp scary barbs...

Yes, yes they can. If they can get a piece of you between their mandibles, they will bite. They just press their faces down and open this part:

And then they clamp down. The mandibles don't move outwards, just open side to side, it makes it a little difficult for them to bite us. But still!

Ooo, don't let a cray put pressure on you through a barb or tip. Focused pressure sucks soooo much worse!

I've seen some stupid kid's nipple bleeding because of them. He was crying too.

I guess he lost a bet.
