The Effects of Plants on Filtration.

What is the best plants to use if you are only looking at the benefits of the cycle and not concerned with the look. I was thinking planting my sump with a large section of planted material an maybe a forced under substrate force water pump in that section as well. what plants will be best?
 
Just to clear somthing up ammonia kills plants like it does fish. The BB break down ammonia and plants absorb the waste of the bacteria. So really what plants do is cut down the number of water changes you need, and make a healthy enviroment for your bb which can be killed by high levels of nitrates.

Also for those of you curious this is the same bio process that is followed on land, and was used to make black powder. Nitrates are explosives afteral.
Hmmm I should make a filter to churn out pure nitates. Lol fishtank munitions factory.
