they always seem to have females around here..but never males its strange...kinda like the paradise fish i guess always have males, females are hard to come by.

Good looking little fish.I see them around from time to time. What will you do with the snails in a few weeks?

most of them will be sold or used as feeders, to make room for my next batch ..they were mutts a male ivory had his way with my female purples..gotta clean the genetics ^_^

Interesting, i wonder if its to do with the suppliers not wanting to flood the market with these fish...

yeah that would be my best guess, From what i have read they breed pretty easily ,..same with the paradise fish ..those are worse than cons!!

but anyway im glad i got him...he and his lovely girl are working on getting fat before we try any love making ..^_^ also getting the tank set up today ..not sure if i want to go with the sponge filter in the other tank or stick to the hob..hmmm choices choices

Very nice acquisition
thank you ^_^

and we have eggs!!!!

spotted the male going in and out of a black pvc pipe i put in the tank about a week ago..shone a light in and EGGS lots of them!!

soo excited!!

pics to come.

Congrats :) ... As for your question about filters, for a fry tank used a sponge filter, the hob current and suction might cause a few problems...
