In researching possible fish anaesthetics, I discovered where some of our tax dollars are at work. The FDA has a Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), which canbe found online at:

http://www.fda.gov/cvm/default.html

If you go there, it has what appears to be a pretty good search engine within the site to look up various aquatic topics. The focus is, of course on food fish, but there appears to be a lot of interesting stuff if you want to surf and dig a bit.

Although, to be honest, with all the concerns about creating super-resistent microbes, it is kind of depressing to see all the anti-microbials that are undoubtedly ending up dumped into our waterways by fish farmers.
