The filter you never have to clean

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very Clean set up.

Here are some questions that I'd like to know and I think others will want to ask:

1) where did you obtain the background? It looks both attractive and sturdy.
2) was it difficult to get background to sit where it is? Are you using a silicon adhesive along the bottom and sides? Is it also attached to the back of the tank?
3) it looks easy to access the bio ball chamber from above. Do you agree?
4) do you have any other filtration / pumps in the tank to move water to the inlet portion of the background?
5) what problems if any did you encounter as you were first using this?
6) if we have fish that will jump or crawl over spaces, could we do the following: a) put the outlet through the wall, not over it and b) place a removable covering over the top between the chambers and the light fixture (like a flat piece of acrylic above the wool? (see one of you pictures.)

Well, you said we could ask! ;)

Again, this is quite enlightening. You have 100% removed the problem of water leaking or spilling from the tank, significantly reduced electricity cost for moving water and heating chilled water from a wet/dry, and completely hidden the filtering portion of the aquarium.

a lot of tanks in the UK have this setup built in just with glass in front? What's the difference?

1) the background is a RockZolid borneo from my LFS the cheaper ones :-)
2) is was easy to get it in, and yes i silicon the sides and the bottom. Its importen to seal the background, so the water flow's thrug the bioballs.
3) yes i do, but you never have to access it. Thats the hole ideea around the filter.
4) yes i have add a sekund pump in the champer where the bioballs are. Just to get that ekstra flow. But i dont have any pumpe in the fish part.
5) the water in the last champer word dropping realy low, but i pack the filter Wool to tight, so i loosend it a little, so realy no problems.
6) sure the outlet can go through the wall, its just a little harder to direct the flow of water, if you want it too go somewhere special. Thats a good ideer with the glas over the filter Can't se any problemt with that.

I hope its helps a little, and you can read my bad english :-) if not do tell
