The Fluval G Thread of Monster Electronic Filters

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im going to reserve judgement until i have heard from peoples personal experiences. Ill give it a while until the mad rush is over and until any initial problems have been reported adressed and resolved, THEN if they are any good ill get one for a lot less than when they are first released.:D

I have to say i dont like the idea of all those electronics being crammed into my filter, ill just continue to use common sense thankyou.

I'm a eheim fanbay and proud of it :D

1. if the FX5 is such a great filter why do fluval need this new filter 2 years after the FX5 was released

2. fluval have missed the boat again the pro3e has been on the market now for 1 year + its a bit late in the day to be saying this new fluval is something new

3. when eheim added all the electronic bits to the pro3e the fluval fanboys said you don't need them its just more things to go wrong now this new filter has them they say it great makes no sense

4. all the people who got the FX5 now have the out of date model of car the pro3 with be a front runner for years to come

5. if you are so happy with your FX5 why would this new model intrest you at all

this has its advantages and disadvantages.

of course, the advantage is you will likely be able to do some neat stuff.

the drawback is that not only is there a lot of electrical stuff that can fail, it can mean it can cost a lot to fix, or having to replace units etc.

why would you be scared about something braking that has just come onto the market

if its made well like the pro3e then this shouldnt bother you

Haha i would argue but since you have one of the most amazing collections and setups on here, not to mention the most amazing dat pulcher in the UK i wont bother:D:D
I might try an eheim, the thing that has stopped me in the past is when i worked at my lfs we had a lot of people return eheim's saying they couldnt get them to work, and this and that was wrong:confused::confused: so i've never tried one before.

because it doesnt matter how well its made, there can always be glitches with stuff like that.

trust me. I work in wastewater treatment with million dollar automated systems. everyone once and a while, something needs to be reset (after a power flicker), or there can be a glitch etc.

thats just life.

problem is, if its your primary filter and something goes wrong and your not there, it can be trouble..

sometimes, more complicated can work against you.

look no further than the FX5 itself for example. there have been users with problems with the smart pump technology when they first came out. granted, it appears that the problems have all been resolved. but it proves the point that fancy technology can be both a blessing and a curse.

its a newbie fishkeeper that has problems with a eheim the same people that would have problems with any new filter

i have got 6 eheims running now in my tank 1 has been running 24/7 for 12 years + and have had and maintained another 12 eheims and never had any problems with any of them

if i have problems with a eheim then i may look at another brand but right now im sticking with the best :D

thats rubbish

if it was true your best off not buying a car with air bags elec windows sat nav or ABS as its just more to go wrong

IF SOMETHING IS MADE RIGHT THEN IT SHOULDNT GO WRONG

i just feel the fluval fanboys are back tracking now it was not a good thing when eheim done the electronics but its great when fluval do it

I disagree....When new model cars are put out into the market, the first year or so there are always TSB's and recalls....fixing the little things that aren't right.
