Genetics will advance to the point where we can completely manipulate the genome of all creatures, including humans. It will start off innocently enough, correcting for certain hereditary diseases. Then it will move on to things like selecting eye and hair color. Eventually, "designer babies" will become a reality. Nearly all countries will pass laws prohibiting it, but it will still be done covertly by society's elite. The same technology will be applied to pets, including fish. Through the manipulation of genes, they will create fish that make today's flowerhorns look like speckled turds.

There will be lots of compact systems. Also extremely powerful heaters, filters, bublers, water conditioners, lights, gravel, more realistic plastic plants etc.

Genetically altered fish! Artificial insemination, custom hybrids, line- breeding of true species! And all performed by the hobbyist. I'd love to keep a RTC that only grows to 12". Maybe spawn two fish that have never swam in the same tank or, for that matter, lived in the same country. Hmmm, the possibilities are endless.
I rlly hope it doesnt get to the point we genetically pick our fish's looks ill be so depressed....I will probly end up hating some of the posibilities big time like i dont want geneticallt altered fish i wanna keep the original beasts we all love now not wht ppl will like them. I will for sure be a all original fish keeper. And dont flower horns look like speckled pieces of poop now?

I would still change the water as usual though. Because you know how it feels to be in the same air the entire day, say in a classroom and it gets all stuffy and hot and uncomfortable.
