He found out what they are, found out they got to big, found out they're not supposed to be there and then realized he didn't want to chance throwing them back and get caught with a dumping fine.

As for being "Ditch Fish"...From what I hear, the tilapia in the picture is a great pet and is worth having in home aquaria IF permitted.

Sorry, I dident read it so I dont know how you came to getting them. But if you cought them from a lake than it dosent matter if you killed them. Considering they are supose to be killed if cought. But I would have done the same thing, I dont like keeping a fish thats illegal in my state so

Well - I've re-read the whole thing twice, and all I'm seeing is.... at one point you had "40 of your babies" or something like that, and some were in your parent's pond... No mention of an aquarium or any outside pressure or interference causing you to all of a sudden kill them.
The plot thickens... The cold snap killed a couple... why not just let the cold kill 'em all? Why did you have to take a hand to those fish?
