yep. Lake wilson.

picked it up the day I landed here at the airport. cragslist is a god.

also... mines the GS650F ;) DAKAR edition ;) dont disgrace the bike by calling it a gs... LOL

anyways, been riding much jesse?
Actually, "GS" is a compliment because it brings to mind the legendary R-series GS bikes. One of these days, I will plunk down some cash for the R1200GS Adventure.

I haven't done much riding lately, except for a 200 mile day trip through the mountains on my KLR 650 the weekend before Memorial Day. Too busy mountain biking. :)

Although I enjoy the 1200.... It is just to heavy and big for anything having to do with offroading... Hell, even this dakar is NOTHING compared to real "dirtbike".... 450+ lbs does not work well off road. THe only real thing these bikes have going for them off the pavement is the torque to get their tank-asses out of trouble. haha..

That said, An expert rider, such as myself, can easily ride these titans off road ;) hahah

Have you seen the new 400 by suziki? that is a very awesome little bike. So is the new 450 YZF.

edit- also, have you read anything on these???? They are still really heavy, but They have a nice engine.

Yeah, the HP2 is a beast, but probably too much of a beast for a dual sport. I've seen them in person, but have never ridden one. They're over $20K. Much like the KTM 900 Adventure--just too much bike for offroad, IMO, but good for adventure touring. You're better off with a smaller four-stroke thumper like the Suzuki DR and YZF you mentioned.

My KLR is like the poor man's adventure tourer. 337 lbs dry, but with that 6 gallon tank filled and all fluids, probably more like 385 wet. Too much bike, too softly sprung, and not geared low enough for true off-road, but decent for fire roads. Lots of hop-up parts available though. Progressive Suspension springs and rear shock, larger front disc rotor, jet kits galore, stainless steel braided brake lines, smaller or larger sprokets depending on intended use, etc.

Neal-Are you living on Oahu now? I can take you to my secret Pbass fishing hole. BUT its classified so if you show anyone I'll have to kill ya.;)
My wife is sick of sitting there for hours while I fish, so a fishing buddy would be nice.
Are you in the military? I know some killer fishing spots on base.

Don't forget it is illegal to take pbass from lake wilson.

Yea, I was checking it out at the dealer a few weeks back. I love it, but I think I will wait to drop that kind of money on a bike.... Atleast untill this hits the market-

EIther way, there isnt much offroading here, so the dakar is perfect. I need some new tires, any recommendations? Must have some decent knobs, or the bike will look tacky ;)

btw- have any updated shots of your tank? post em up.

Yea I live in Honolulu. I am down for a fishing buddy, my GF cant stand going to lake wilson... "I AM NOT GOING, I WILL GET EATEN ALIVE BY BUGS."

So I usually just go alone to take pics. :( Where are you located there? In the pictures, your house looked nice... And I have yet to see a nice house in the area there.....? '

That Duc's pretty sweet! I've always liked supermotards. The KTM Duke is one of my favorites.

Regarding tires, I've been looking for the opposite, more of a 90/10 street/offroad tire for my KLR, so I've been looking at Avon Gripsters. You'll want to read up on F650 tires before buying, because there are some quirky features, like being mixed bias-ply/radial per the manufacturer's recommendations:

Yeah, I'll get some tank pics up soon.

I want a pond like that in my backyard.. That is cool. :) If I ever go to Hawaii I am going to that lake, for sure!
