The temperature was about 108 degrees in the valley last weekend. I have most of my tanks in the garage and temperature was about 120 degrees in the garage. I lost my 3 years old regani and a jumbo neetroplus due to the heat wave.

Man that blows. I have been struggling with the heat as well, and I myself lost a large jack dempsey due to the heat. And I don't have the money to get a chiller, a little pricey, but hopefully by next summer I will be more readily prepared and financially able to get one!

That is so sad..couldn't you have cooled the tanks..what a shame.. what a beautiful fish.. hope that the weather cools off for you..

I'm really sorry to hear about your losses. My A/C recently broke and my house got to 105 degrees. I was crossing my fingers for all my fish, but yours had much worse heat to deal with. :(

Wow...this is worse then the cold at my parents' house I have to deal with on an ongoing basis..At least it doesn't usually outright kill fish.

Sorry...

When it gets hot and you cant afford a chiller start putting sealed bags of ice into your tank and place a fan over the top of the water.

I hear you. I lost a few HRP and some loaches too. Luckily i realized what was going on before anything else croaked. i had to do some emergency water changes to bring the temp down. i also froze a big zip lock bag and dropped it in the tanks to bring the temp down then i rinsed it and threw it back in the freezer. I had to repeat the process a couple of times. Sorry about your losses gary. It was super hot last week.

sorry for your losses.
