The heat wave killed a few of my cichlids...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sheesh that sucks bro.
my tank water felt like it was fit for a bath after i came home from labor day. needless to say i did emergency 50-75% changes even before i unpacked my bags.

MAn that sux. Its always hard to lose fish when you cant control it.

That sucks gary, Im really sorry to hear that. As long as the beaniis are safe though thats what matters most. If you ever feel that they are in danger, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL ME!!! I will drop everything to get them and they can have 100gallons INDOORS all to themselves. Just let me know buddy.

I place frozen bottles of water at the surface and perform 20% water changes 10 degrees lower than the tank temp every 2 hours when heat waves occur.

Thanks for the support everyone. The good thing is that I don't have to deal with the heat till next year and I will be prepared.

What was the temp of the water on any of your tanks guys? I am wondering because I am in S. Arizona and it is a concern to me too, I plan on buying a tank here. I do know the garage is way to hot for aquariums in S. arizona.

The temperature water in the tank was at least 96 degrees.

I am wondering if fish can stand up to 95 F. if the water is well filtered and well airated?
