The HOB, algae moss growing wall experiment.

The vertical fish in the picture, could not swim, only hover around. Took a couple of days but he pulled out of it.

Some moss will some won't. I have 3 kinds in my Wet Iowa backyard. Only one is truly amphibious. Nearly impossible to kill.
I can not find any accurate information about it. Some kind of a bog moss.

2 weeks of growth. The moss is the only thing growing, as the algae dried out. I will add some, as the moss will wick water up, for the algea.

I reseeded this March 5th

It just reached the tank today.

Why not just cut it down to about an inch? Saves you the trouble of setting up a new colony.

Seeding a new batch only takes a few minutes.

Update on moss HOB filter. The 2700k bulbs are getting hard to find so the right is a led with a screw is socket. It's been going for a while with the led.

What a cool experiment. I love how it looks.

I put moss from my yard on some rocks in my pond. It has done well as far as staying alive. It even grew up another rock slightly. But I think it gets too much light.
