My family all said it was awesome and that it set some record for an opening weekend. I really need to check it out.

Saw it in IMAX 3D. Loved it, great movie. Very close to the book, with some added "fluff" of course. CGI was mind-blowing as to be expected. Can't wait for the other two parts.

Good to hear....the trilogy was sort of a family tradition for me, and I was waiting for this to come out, so now Im motivated to see it.

I saw it yesterday and thought that it was simply awesome !! I'm not a huge fan of CGI and off the chart action films, but I am a huge LOTR fan and Tolkien fiend. The added content was great and I like the way that the story is being stretched out. I especially liked the way that they did the Gollum character in this movie. It seemed a lot more animated in this movie.

Yeah watching Gollum in the movie was awesome! The Riddles game was a very cool scene. I don't know all that much about LOTR history but Radagast the Brown completely threw me off. Wasn't in the book and I was clueless about this character.

Yeah they haven't gotten that far in the movie. I'd tell you exactly what page # the movie leaves off but I don't want to spoil it for folks :)
