When I was a child, my father had a 20 gallon tank built into the wall in the finished basement. It was a community tank. In high school a friend was raising convict cichlids and that got me hooked. So I had South American cichlids in my late teens and twenties. When marriage and children came along I shut down tanks for about twenty-five years. Then at age 50 started again, this time African Cichlids and have been going 17 years straight with that. It is the breeding aspect and raising fry that keeps me intrigued.
