I lived just out side New Orleans for 3 years ( so as you can guess i know good Mexican food) and i haven't had Mexican like that till to day

Member chriscoli
Definitely worth having them back! Breakfast was good (i had the egg breakfast taco). Lunch was fantastic! I split a few things with people so that I could try more flavors....so I got to try the beef torta, beef tacos, fish tacos, and the chips. Everything was great, but I think it'd be a toss between the beef torta and the fish tacos for the best. Both were wonderful, and in very different ways.

I didn't have any problem with an unbearably long wait for my order. Since everything was so fresh, I was more than happy to wait a few minutes for it to be made. Also, it was very nice (as previously noted) to be able to get up and walk outside for a few minutes.

I hope you have them back!

Moving from Cali ( which is home of the first "taco trucks"... they are all over LA ).... this was the best Mexican on the East Coast that I have had. Yes, a litte high in price but once I ate the tacos, I thought it was reasonable ( Avocado is freak'n expensive, so to pile the guacamole on that high was incredible ). It's a contemporary twist on the authentic stuff! I love real mexican cheese.... so smooth tasting!

I would be very VERY VERY sad if we didn't have them back .... I have found one place down here that I like ... but I think the taco truck still wins.

I even brought some home so my hubby could try real Mexican I saw a few people with me ordering to go as well ( I think they were bringing them back to the wives/kids )!!!

For those with sensitive tummies.... ask for NO salsa ....

Breakfeast, Brunch, Lunch and second lunch were Yummy. I actually missed a Lot I wanted because I was stuffing my Mellon.

Tried the shredded beef tacos, costilla I think, which were very good. On the way out I tried the fish taco with everything on Mr. Barbito's rec. Simply outstanding!

bassgenie
Does the fact that I tried The Beef, The Chicken and the Fish Tacos make me look Fat? Oh yeah and the Beans and the Breakfast Tacos too.. I know asking them to come park outside my house was going a bit too far.

Charlutz
I had the chorizo breakfast tacos, the beef torta and then some *** guy bought me the fish tacos because he said I had to try them. Thanks for that! They were all excellent, but the fish tacos were the best. It was a little pricey, but the portions were big and much more upscale than the usual burger and cheese steak fare. I'd like to have them back. Also, part of the reason for the sticker shock was that there were no stickers -- maybe they could post the prices next time?

oldjoe
I had a custom made order with black beans and cheese on top and it was excellent. I also thought the price was very reasonable for the quality of food. Good value, great choice.

Tony
I ended up eating/splitting 4 items from them - the chorizo torta, the beef tacos, the beef torta and the fish tacos.... everything was top-notch.

Good call Bill. I'm all about getting them back in the fall.

theboothsociety
I agree with bass genie. For the quality ingredients, I think it was very reasonable priced. I think I got 2 tacos, 1 beef & 1 chicken for $7-$8. Correct me if im wrong. And they both had 2 tacos in each.

I didnt try the breakfast but I liked the beef over the chicken. Both good though, I also agree with the spicyness, nothing the beer couldnt wash down though.

gorillahfish
All I have to say is,Bill great suggestion the fish tacos were smokin!!! My son enjoyed the beef tacos. I'd definitely love to see the Taco Truck back at the auction! Tacos and beer a perfect combo!!!!!

WendyFish

100% agreed, the Taco Truck was delicious and I'd be happy to see them back.

I'd echo Sarah, I don't get a lot of really good Mexican so that was a real plus. There are lots of other food trucks or catering that you'd get that would be delicious; hey, I love food -- but this one is at a premium for me.

I had the chorizo breakfast tacos and was (pleasantly) surprised how un-breakfasty they were -- the usual approach is very scrambled egg heavy.

Had chicken, beef, and fish tacos in the afternoon. I thought the beef was fine, the chicken was pretty special, and the fish was out of this world.

I'm not sure what was so good about it -- freshly prepared? Good ingredients? Good sauces? I can't put my finger on it, but I'd be thrilled to eat it again!

guarddog5
The taco truck rocked, I had the breakfast chorizo tacos, beef tortas, a couple times, and last but not least the fish tacos were out of this world. Thanks Bill, great call, bring'em back!

findingnemo
My other half and I ordered a torta and a chorizo taco for breakfast. AMAZING!
Then we each had the beef for lunch. DOUBLE AMAZING!
THEN I had TWO fish tacos.. and he had one.... THEY WERE THE BEST THING EVER....
That cheese... My goodness. If heaven is fluffy clouds, may it be made of that cheese.
The prices were beyond fair for what you recieved. That food was so fresh I was half expecting it to slap me. Or call me names. It was so delicious that I would have gladly accepted either one. or both.
All in all, it was an amazing choice and I pray they are there for the next auction!! Thank you Bill!!

Don't want Tacos, check out this happy Camper:

This is from CCA Member Chris Todd...

Best hot dogs I've ever had in my life are around the corner...
I may be the source of the rumor there are awesome hot dogs nearby. Here's the short version of this post. Go to:

Galloping Hill Grill

at the crazy 7-way intersection* of Chestnut Street with six other thoroughfares ( turn right onto Chestnut Street out of the Elks Lodge parking lot) for awesome hot dogs. Note that this assessment is highly context-dependent. To understand the context, read on (for the more detailed version of the post).

Here ends the short version of this post.
========================================
Here starts the long version of this post.

I had attended my first *** auction; it could have been the fall of 2012, or the spring of 2011; I don't remember for reasons stated below. It was awesome, to say the least. I have been in this hobby for at least 8 years, and I have yet to see anything like it.

THERE IS FREE BEER!!!!

Yeah, I said Free Beer. The phrases "me" and "free beer" are like moth to a flame, and before I knew it, Bill had me so relaxed I was willing to get in front of a microphone to announce auction lots. By all accounts, I managed not to embarrass myself, but believe me, I had a beer under the table I was pulling from frequently.

Once the craziness that is an *** auction was over, I found myself in North New Jersey, hungry and facing a 4+ hour drive home. I thought it might be a good idea if I buffered the considerable alcohol in my stomach with some food. Despite the incredibly confusing 7-way intersection, I somehow managed to find myself in the parking lot of the Galloping Hill Grill. Looking over their menu (and the awesome photographs and testimonials on the wall), I decided to go with a couple of hot dogs, which seemed to be their speciality. I got one with onions and sweet relish, and one with spicy relish ( what we Baltimorons might call "red hots", which is really just pickled pepper relish).

In the state I was in (and here is the context-dependent part)...

THEY WERE THE BEST HOT DOGS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!

OK, I was drunk. Well, not really drunk, but I had a seriously good buzz on. But they were still darned good hot dogs. Nice snap, delicious flavor, nice bun, and tasty toppings. Hard to beat when you're buzzed after a long day's fish auctioneering. :-)

You may be compelled, as I was, to buy a 5 lb vacuumed packed bag of them to take home with you. I know my purchase was gone in less than a week, since my two daughters absolutely loved them. Incentive for me to return to the *** auction, if for no other reason than to get me some more of those Galloping Hill hot dogs.

Chris

* PS: I thought crazy multi-way intersections only happened in Pittsburgh! I spent my college and grad school days living in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, near the 5-way intersection of Forward Ave, Murray Ave, and Pocusset Ave. It was a crazy intersection, often congested with traffic from folks who didn't know which way to turn. When I approached the 7-way intersection near Galloping Hill Grill, I had to guess which street to turn down to get into their parking lot. I guessed correctly, but I can easily imagine someone getting lost in New Jersey for half an hour just at the intersection. :-)
