Yes, on reflection I can see now that my initial assessment was flawed, lol. And the answer I was seeking was not only mentioned by you, but was right under my nose if I'd have thought about it..........birds!
My brother keeps chickens, ducks and geese, not as pets, although you'd think they were pets the way they roam through his kitchen on occasion! But birds are genuine pets when you start thinking along the lines of parrots and budgies for example.
My brother also hunts for birds as sport. The pheasant, grouse, partridge and duck season is very popular, especially in Scotland, which is where my brother does much of his hunting.
And of course bird, as a food source, is as popular as fish, if not more so.
