The humble fish.

Yes, on reflection I can see now that my initial assessment was flawed, lol. And the answer I was seeking was not only mentioned by you, but was right under my nose if I'd have thought about it..........birds!

My brother keeps chickens, ducks and geese, not as pets, although you'd think they were pets the way they roam through his kitchen on occasion! But birds are genuine pets when you start thinking along the lines of parrots and budgies for example.

My brother also hunts for birds as sport. The pheasant, grouse, partridge and duck season is very popular, especially in Scotland, which is where my brother does much of his hunting.

And of course bird, as a food source, is as popular as fish, if not more so.

It's at this point in the thread, as I draw it to its close, that I thank you jjohnwm jjohnwm , from the bottom of my heart, for making me look a plonker, lol.

Aw, shucks, Esox...I didn't do nuthin', really...just helped you do it yourself!

Oh and Tilapia. Pet, livestock, game.

And to what animal category does tilapia fit into!!! You're going to make yourself look a bigger plonker than me with that one, lol.

Something other than fish........and now birds too, lol!

Any amphibians, reptiles or insects than can be added? Now that would be a challenge.

Over to you jjohnwm jjohnwm , you have all the answers, lol.

Nearest you get to a fish is a rabbit!
And when the kids were younger we kept them too. And you can hunt them and I am told they taste good, although I have to admit more of a emotional connection to a rabbit even than my fish but nothing like my dog.

Yes, that's a genuine contender. Rabbits are popular pets, we kept rabbits as pets as kids, and of course they are hunted too. An ex brother in law of mine going way back now used to hunt rabbits and make the most delicious rabbit curry. Nice one Dave.
