The is why I hate local big corporation pet marts.

I understand your anger. I took this video at a chain...these fish don't even have fins:

I know its a life, and its an awful thing to see. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do. And I'm sure the people at the higher levels in the corporate world aren't trying to have fish in their stores that look like that. Things crumble the further down the line you go...sooner or later you hit a manager or an employee that doesn't care and you end up with fish that look like that.

Funny anyone would assume that fish have better conditions while waiting to be sold. :duh: fish for sale are kept in small overcrowded tanks, many are beat to death by other fish. Even by online vendors.

To the OP do you really expect that a Petsmart is going to provide the 100 plus gallons of tank space to properly house the fish you've pictured. Get real :screwy:

Get real? I never said I expected them to house them in large tanks. Just with proper tank mates while they are waiting to be sold.

I already said I know it is never going to happen, I also said I was just venting.

I am real... It isn't wrong or "unreal" to feel anger by this subject. Maybe it will take me some time to become numb and blind to seeing it like some people seem to have accomplished.

I hate that money rules all.

Thanks to the people who don't think I am wrong to feel this way. I appreciate it.

You are right to be upset.

IMO putting these fish in large tanks (like someone suggested) is not the only way to save them.
If I had this problem in my system, I would load the tank with fake plants, drop the temperature, up the feeding, add more salt to the system, and keep a close eye on parameters. Adding half a dozen of another aggressive breed would help also. These are all tricks I used to use. And yes, they worked.

When there is an auto replenishment, a set number of fish allotted for a tank, and a non negotiable planagram, there's not much you can do. I did have some success with changing some things at a higher level, but I got more of a result lying about my numbers so that the auto replenish wouldn't send too many. And when it came to pacus and other fish that would just be sold to their dooms, I would take off the fish tag and not write off the fish all together so that they would never be available. I hated working there....

Working management for a Corporate Petstore numbed me. Every day I cared less about the animals and more about my numbers. When I realized this, I knew it was time for a change.
