===============================

Any questions, please feel free to ask in this thread. Dont worry about derailing :)

OK!!!! This tank finally has water after waiting a long time to get this going! These are some quick and dirty pics, not much has happened and there are hardly any plants in it, but I wanted to get this thread up. There will be LOTS of plants added in the coming weeks, as well as fish and shrimp so stay tuned for updates.

Also, the CO2 isn't running yet. My regulator arrives tomorrow so I will post some new pics after that is going. After that I can begin buying some of the more demanding plant species. Right now it's pretty bare, but patience is KEY when it comes to planted tanks. Good things dont happen overnight, only bad things ;)

Before we get into the details, THIS TANK IS RUNNING A SUMP W/ OVERFLOWS!! Normally folks dont run sumps on a tank that has co2 injection because the water splashing will gas off a lot of your co2. But by using a Durso standpipe and a valve on the drain line to match the pump's output, I have eliminated ALL splashing and gurgling. The tank is dead silent, just a little noise from the pump. Here's a quick video to show the details:

[YT]<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/THLswfuP3DE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/THLswfuP3DE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>[/YT]

And just a quick shot of my old 55g Aqua Forest. I got big shoes to fill :D

And to make myself vomit, here's the cost of the project so far. I'll have a couple hundred more invested after the plants and fish. Includes shipping/tax:

absolutley gorgeous. Great work...!

that is one sexy tank!!!!!!! wow i want one. did you build it?

thanks, no, the tank is store-bought. built by Oceanic

Sexy is the right word for that tank.

I like the placement in the room as well. The tank stands on it's own as a piece of art. Very nice work. It's nice and clean/organized underneath as well.

^ thanks! i edited the first post to include total costs so far. i think ill go hang myself now :cry:

Dang J! Underneath that tank is more impressive than all my tanks as a whole. Great job. That's a beautiful setup.

Maybe ill convert my wet/dry on my 150 to a fully submerged sump and run pressurized co2 after all Thanks for the idea!

thanks for the kind words :) with a little bit of thought, a sump can definitely be used with pressurized co2. and the benefits of a sump are endless, especially no more topping off the tank! that looks real messy on a rimless tank
