No discus plans?
no, not in this tank at least. 57g is wayyyy too small for discus. and after the plants fill in, there will be no room except for tiny fish!

These remind me of what we call 'black neons' here, but they're a little off. Maybe in the same genus?

Actually a 57 is fine for discus, just so long as you keep up on water changes. You have to watch having too large of a tank, as this can cause excessive swimming, which can cause the fish to burn too many calories, which can cause stunting.

i would have said the same a few months back but now i find that boring. i could stare into a planted tank for long time, never was able to do that with monster fish for some reason!

Actually I believe I agree, there's not too much extra you can elaborate on this I would imagine. I'm no stranger to large fish, however as much as it compensates with 'awesome' by seeing large development, it lacks in complexity. Which is where you can really define your processes. :flamed:
