Such beautiful tanks! You are adept as taking photographs of them as well.

What camera are you using? What about your flash? What lighting did you use when taking fish closeups? Dark room with tank light?

I'm using a Nikon D90, DSLR. I have two lenses that I use for aquarium photography, the 17-55mm f/2.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8. And yes, I use a wireless overheard flash setup. I usually shoot in the evening to avoid any reflections on the glass.

Been a while since I did a real photo session so I broke out the camera and speedlights and went to town! Used some different settings this time though. Normally I'll shoot at f/8-f/16 in order to have everything in focus. But this time I used the 70-200mm f/2.8, sat back about 5ft, zoomed in to 200mm, and used big apertures ranging from f/2.8 to f/4.5. The result is a nice shallow depth of field with some wild looking bokeh due to the background plants.

Haha thanks! I do wish my aquascaping was better than my photography though. Still not happy with the way the tank looks. Lacks any real style or aquascaping in my eyes. I guess I get discouraged when I see the tanks of all these master aquascapers. These guys are amazing artists :)
