Try searching E cat under my name(amazonfishman), there are several helpful threads with E cat keeping that I have made. This thread is almost a year old and very off topic. Thanks ~Trent

im jumping on him for not giving the fish time, it was probably just stunned.

Del, have you ever kept an e. cat? Seriously? Don't be so quick to bust his ballz. I'm sure he cared enough for the jardini than to just kill it instead of give it a chance to recover. Really, I don't think it would recover.

I HAVE kept an e. cat, and have experienced the same thing. Different fish, different sizes, same results. I had a 4" e. cat in a 125gal with several SA cichlids. For several months I had no problems, then one night woke up to my 8" female Red Terror swimming only with her pectoral fins. Moved the e. cat and sold it the next day, but the damage was done. I don't know how it was able to break the R. T.s back with a shock, but it happened. She lived for two more weeks, but never regained use of her hind half. Don't think the jardini was just stunned...;)

BTW...why did someone dig up this old thread? Geez....

Wow this thread is old, I had never seen but I must say I enjoyed reading it very much, you see I too have an E-Cat along with my SA cichlids and I also have a clown kinfe in there with them as well. the Clown knife did get hit once when I rearranged the tank decor and the cat took over the clowns hididng place, the knife floated completly still upsidedown for about a minute before i could see any movement in his gill plates then little by little his fins started moving as well. It was almost 3-4 minutes before he was completly right side up again and swimming around, a little jittery but ok. In my opinion if the Jar was going to recover it would have done so within a couple of minutes he may have been brain dead and was just having natural muscle spasms.
This is an old thread and I'm only posting this as my opinion, to hopefully help someone who may be considering doing the same. just take it as my two cents. That was however a very nice Jar, wish he would have made it.
Oh also I have gotten zapped by my cat as well, it was funny when he was about 3inches he's now around 8inches and its not so much fun no more.

I love my e-cat but this guy will always be alone in the tank..:D
